Immigration and Customs Enforcement wants to deport a Sudanese youth who was enslaved, tortured, and blinded in his home country.
Take Action: Tell ICE not to send Keer to a country where he could be tortured and killed.
Keer Dang was captured from his Denka tribe in Southern Sudan fifteen years ago. He was enslaved and tortured, and was blinded by having Chili Peppers rubbed into his eyes. Last week, Keer testified before Congress explaining how he was able to escape his capturers and how he had to walk for months to get home. To make matters worse, Keer’s mother is still enslaved and no one knows her whereabouts.
The international organization Christian Solidarity International was able to bring Keer to the United States to seek treatment and rehab. Despite asking for six months, Keer was only given a three month visa which expires in less than three weeks. He has already undergone three major procedures, including a cornea transplant in order to restore some vision. But three months is not enough time for his eyes to heal and to make sure there aren’t any complications from his procedures. For Keer, going back to Sudan could be devastating for the progress he has made.
Once Keer’s visa expires, he will be deported back to the country that enslaved and tortured him. Furthermore, he could face retaliation for exposing Sudan’s atrocities to the world. There are no words to describe the pain and suffering that Keer has gone through. Unfortunately, instead of helping him recover his vision, ICE has turned their backs on him.

If Keer is deported, he could face torture and possible death for speaking out. Keer deserves to stay in the United States and continue his treatment to restore some vision.
